Fogelsville Townhomes On Hold For Now

T.H. Properties of Harleysville intends to build 'stacked townhouses' along Route 100 in Fogelsville and requires height variances.

T.H. Properties Inc. of Harleysville will return to the Upper Macungie Zoning Hearing Board later this year concerning a variance request for townhomes planned at 1230 Route 100 in Fogelsville.

The company, according to township zoning officer Al Geosits, is changing its planned construction from townhouses to "stacked townhouses."

Stacked townhouses have garages on the bottom and living space on the top two floors.

These townhouses propose a height of 39 feet, 8 inches, which exceeds the maximum building height requirement of 35 feet. Therefore, a height variance is sought by the company, Geosits said.

That hearing took place Jan. 9 and was continued until March.

In the meantime, the company will be presenting a sketch plan to the Upper Macungie Planning Commission for its input before returning to the zoning board.

I'm surprised the township let THP back in the building.

Excellent points, I moved to UMT for the quality of life and suburban feel. Since 2000, I have seen building, traffic and growth proceed at a rate that does not seem well managed. That area of the township in particular has and will become an eye sore with transients taking up time of our NEW police force. Rubber stamp approvals.

Couldn't agree more, Parkland Parent. Poorly managed growth rate, quality of life diminishing in UMT.
