Though they agreed by a unanimous 6-0 vote to allow Exit Massage, the board members were concerned that those giving massages wouldn’t be licensed or studying in a state-run program for message therapy.

Otherwise, Kyung would legally be running a massage parlor, the board members said. And that’s illegal in Upper Macungie, said Andrew Schantz, township attorney.

Kyung, through an interpreter, said that he hours would be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with three employees.

It is scheduled to open in July.

“Therapeutic body massage and manipulation will be done there,“  said Kyung‘s attorney, Dick Adams. “There will be male and female employees and customers. The customers must be clothed.”
