2 Hurt in I-78 Crash, State Police Say

State police at Fogelsville say two Allentown women were hurt when a car and a pickup truck collided on Interstate 78 Thursday afternoon.

State police at Fogelsville said two Allentown women were injured when a car and a pickup truck crashed on Interstate 78 Thursday afternoon.

Police said a pickup truck driven by Richard D. Irwin, 63, of Cedar Run, N.J., swerved to change lanes while westbound on I-78 in an attempt to avoid slowing traffic.

In the process, Irwin's truck hit a car driven by Catiria E. Vega, 30, of Allentown, who was driving in the right lane, police said.

Police said Vega reported pain in her left abdomen and left knee, police said. Genesis Sabastro, a passenger in Irwin's pickup, reported head pain.

Both were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Salisbury Township.

Police said Irwin was given a citation for failure to remain in his lane.
