Train Hits Car Stuck on Railroad Tracks

A woman escaped injury when she was able to get out of her car before it got hit by a train Tuesday morning. She mistakenly drove onto railroad tracks and her car stalled around 6:30 a.m., according to reports by WFMZ and Lehigh Valley Live.

Police: 'Cat Burglar' Hits Antiques Mall

A thief walked away from Zionsville Antique Mall without paying for an old 'piggy bank' shaped like a kitten, state troopers reported. The cast-iron piggy bank was stolen from a booth between 3:07 and 3:29 p.m. Jan. 29 in the Zionsville Antique Mall at 7567 Chestnut St., Upper Milford. 

In the last 10 months, Brian Simmons of Fountain Hill has crossed paths with police three times. In April, he was allegedly at the scene of a West Ward homicide, and was himself shot and stabbed.  In September, he was charged with the rape of a 15-year-old Easton girl in Glendon, although the case against him was later withdrawn. And this week he was charged with selling heroin to a confidential police source in Easton.

Police Seek Witnesses to Killing in Front of Strip Club

Law enforcement officials released surveillance photos of four people who may have witnessed the killing of Tyree Wimberly in front of Scoobie’s, a strip club on the Allentown side of the municipal boundary with Bethlehem. Bethlehem police and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office ask that anyone who knows any of the four people in the photos to come forward and name them.

The former president of the Bethlehem Steelers youth football association has been charged with embezzling more than $34,000 of the organization’s funds, according to court records. Bradley Henry Scheetz, 41, of 329 Sixth Ave., Bethlehem, allegedly used an organization Bank of America debit card to make $34,493 in unauthorized withdrawals and purchases in 2011 and 2012.

Fire Near Scene of 2 Horror Movies May Be Arson

North Whitehall Fire Marshal Don Jacobs said a Monday morning fire in an abandoned barn at 4767 Cobbler Road in North Whitehall was being considered "suspicious." The adjoining slaughterhouse, which was the setting for two indie horror movies, was not damaged.

An Easton teenager who had been a weekend houseguest at a home in Forks Township is accused of stealing more than $10,000 in jewelry, valuable coins and money from his host’s safe, according to court papers. Colton James Clark, 18, of 803 Spring Garden St., was a guest at the home of Denise Nagrodski, 733 Arndt Road in Forks Township, according to the arrest affidavit.

Man Accused of Pointing Shotgun at Girlfriend

A Tatamy man allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at his girlfriend and shoved her in an incident early Tuesday, court records say. Matthew Balodis, 30, of the 200 block of High St., is charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and harassment.
