Substitute Teacher Charged in Child Sex Assault

An Allentown School District substitute teacher who lives in Coopersburg was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting a 9-year-old student at Union Terrace Elementary School. Michael James Agrippine, 47, of 6881 Main St., Coopersburg, is charged with aggravated indecent assault, a first-degree felony; institutional sexual assault, a third-degree felony, and indecent assault, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

Police: Woman Hit Boyfriend With Samurai Sword

A 50-year-old Easton woman is accused of swinging a partially opened Samurai sword at her boyfriend, causing injuries to his head and face. She also is charged with kicking the city police officer who accompanied her to Northampton County Prison during the arrest process.

NCC Student Accused of Selling Pot from Dorm Room

A Northampton Community College student from York County, Pennsylvania, was evicted from the college’s residence hall and suspended from classes and all campus activity after he allegedly admitted to selling marijuana -- for 10 to 15 regular customers -- out of his room.

Man Allegedly Stole Thousands in Jewelry from Relative

A Hellertown woman knew some relatives would be at her Main Street apartment hanging Christmas decorations while she was out of town for a few days last month. But what she didn’t know was that one of the relatives, according to police, would steal at least $6,050 of her jewelry, court records say.

Mom Charged in Beating Death of 5-Year-Old Son

A 24-year-old Allentown woman was charged with homicide in the death of her 5-year-old son in November 2012. Doctors performed surgery but were unable to save the boy, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney.

A Lehigh Valley dining institution was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning. Five firefighters were hurt in the Youell's Oyster House blaze but were released from the hospital. The fire began around 4:15 a.m. in the restaurant at 23rd and Walnut streets, Allentown.

A 19-year-old man who police saw running from Redner's Market early Tuesday with a white bandana over his face was charged with robbing the market, Upper Macungie police said. Mario Canas, of Breinigsville, was taken into custody following a foot chase by police and charged with robbery and related offenses. 

Jets Coach Rex Ryan Smashes Red Mustang in Bethlehem

New York Jets head football coach Rex Ryan told Bethlehem police he was trying “to beat the light” when he apparently caused a minor three-car crash in south Bethlehem during the evening rush hour on Jan. 14, Bethlehem Police said. The accident occurred at the intersection of Wyandotte and W. Third streets, just south of the Hill-to-Hill Bridge at 6:13 p.m.
