Upper Macungie Officer Steven Kress Honored by Crimestoppers

Upper Macungie Police Officer Steven Kress was honored Thursday by the Lehigh Valley Crimestoppers at a special recognition dinner for foiling a January robbery at the Trexlertown Redner's Market.

Upper Macungie Police Officer Steven Kress was honored Thursday by the Lehigh Valley Crimestoppers at a special recognition dinner for foiling a January robbery at the Trexlertown Redner's Market.

Upper Macungie Police said that while on routine patrol, Kress saw a man running away from the Redner's Warehouse Market on Hamilton Blvd.

Realizing that something was wrong, Kress chased the man just as a dispatcher was notifying police units of an armed robbery at the same grocery store, police said.

Police said Kress was able to apprehend the suspect after wrestling him to the ground and take him into custody.

Kress was one of several local crime fighters who were recognized by the Lehigh Valley Crimestoppers Thursday night.
