Upper Mac Apartment Fire Causes $12,000 in Damage

Officials say the building's sprinkler system contained the blaze.

Upper Macungie Township officials say a laundry room fire in a Ramapo Trail apartment Feb. 3 caused approximately $12,000 in damage and temporarily displaced two residents.

Officials say the blaze broke out last Thursday at 1:42 p.m. in building G at and was contained to the laundry room of the second floor unit by the building's sprinkler system. The first floor unit of the building sustained some water damage, officials said.

Fire Marshal Sam Ashmar determined that combustible materials located near a hot water heater caused the blaze and ruled it accidental.
