Unknown Vehicle Hits Van on R.22, Keeps Going

State police say vehicle, possibly a tractor trailer, hit van during westbound merger in Upper Macungie.

State police say an unknown vehicle, possibly a tractor trailer, hit a van and kept going as the unknown vehicle tried to merge into another lane on westbound Route 22 in Upper Macungie earlier this month.

The van driver, Tyrone D. Walley, 48, of Allentown was not hurt. Walley, who was wearing a seat belt, was driving a 1998 Ford E350, a state police fax said.

The incident occurred around 7:25am Jan. 6, a Monday, when both vehicles were westbound -- the unknown vehicle in the right lane and the van about 25 feet behind in the left lane.

When the unknown vehicle tried to merge into the left lane, it struck the van's right front-quarter panel.

The fax does not describe the unknown vehicle, but it does say its "trailing unit" hit the van, indicating the vehicle may be a tractor trailer.
