Two Hurt in Route 222 Bypass Crash, Police Say

Upper Macungie Police said two people were hurt in a Monday morning accident at the intersection of the Route 222 bypass and Mill Creek Road. One of the vehicles rolled over after impact, but the driver was able to free himself.

Upper Macungie Police said two people were injured in a Monday morning car accident at the intersection of the Route 222 bypass and Mill Creek Road.

Police said a car driven by Philomena Holler, 75, of Allentown was traveling southbound on the Route 222 bypass and turning left on to Mill Creek Road when it struck the passenger side of a a car driven by Jarrad Schantzenberger, 18, of Macungie.

Police said Schantzenberg's car overturned upon impact, however, he was able to exit the vehicle under his own power.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m., police said.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital with Holler complaining of chest pain and Schantzenberger suffering from arm pain, police said.

Police said both vehicles sustained what they termed major damage.

Police said Cetronia Ambulance and Upper Macungie fire companies assisted with the call.
