Update: Driver ID'd in Fatal Truck Crash On I-78

Two tractor trailers crashed and one caught fire causing the closure of I-78 east in Upper Macungie Township on Monday morning. One person was killed in the accident.

State Police at Foglesville reported Lucas Cramer, 31, of Duncannon, Pa., as the driver of a tractor-trailer killed in a morning accident in the area of Interstate 78 and Route 100 in Upper Macungie Township, according to a report on WFMZ.com.

According to the report, a tractor trailer driven by Cramer smashed into the back of a truck driven by James Sherry while traveling east on Interstate 78.

According to the report, police said the two vehicles traveled 300 feet before rolling down an embankment.

The first emergency call came in at 4:20 a.m. reporting a truck fire at the Home Depot warehouse on Nestle Way.

Interstate 78 east in Lehigh County was closed between the Route 100 and New Smithville exits.
