Teen Allegedly Threatens Family, Police

The teen was taken into custody without incident Thursday morning, police said.

A 17-year-old boy who reportedly made threats to harm his family and police was taken into custody Thursday morning after a brief standoff in the 1200 block of Cardinal Drive in Breinigsville, Upper Macungie police said.

The teen was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital for a mental health evaluation and treatment, police said.

He was found to have drug-related paraphernalia and will face charges in juvenile court, they said.

Upper Macungie police said they responded about 11:30 a.m. to a report that the teen was possibly armed and had barricaded himself in the home. He was believed to have been under the influence of several types of drugs, they said, and possibly having mental health issues.

Police initially tried to talk the teen out of the house. After a brief standoff, he came out of the house and was taken into custody without issue, police said.
