Spilled Beer Hops Shut Down Schantz Road, Police Say

Upper Macungie Police say crash involved two tractor trailers.

An accident involving two tractor trailers -- one carrying beer hops -- shut down Schantz Road for several hours Sunday, according to Upper Macungie Police.

Police said the accident happened around 10 a.m. when the first truck tried to make a right turn onto Schantz Road from Newtown Road.

The second truck hit a wall and spilled its contents—beer hops, according to the Morning Call—onto the road, causing it to be shut down for several hours for cleanup.

No injuries were reported. The drivers were identified as Guy Pierson of Bethlehem and Travis King of Georgia.
