Police Still At Scene of Reported So. Whitehall Shooting

WFMZ says five people were taken from South Drive to the hospital.

South Whitehall Police and the state police forensic unit are on the scene at 2998 South Drive in Allentown, following a reported shooting at the home early this morning.

WFMZ is reporting that five people were taken to the hospital.

Neighbor Mike Williams said he did not hear any shots fired Monday morning but that he awoke around 5:30 a.m. and saw the police cars outside the house.

"I knew it had to be something serious because of the [yellow police] tape," he said.

Williams described the neighborhood as "very normal, middle class."

"It's a family-oriented neighborhood," he said. "Everybody gets along."

He said it's usually quiet, except for the sounds of children playing.

Officials are expected to release a statement later today.

As of noon Monday, police remained inside the house. Yellow police tape roped off the front and sides of the home
