Wanted: SUV Driver in Hit-and-Run Crash

Upper Macungie Police seek the driver of a large, black SUV that left the scene of an auto accident at Chapmans Road and Hickory Lane on Sunday morning.

Upper Macungie Police are seeking a driver who left the scene of an accident Sunday morning at the intersection of Chapmans Road and Hickory Lane.

Police said the vehicle, thought to be a large, black SUV, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Hickory Lane and Chapmans Road and went through the intersection at high speed.

Police said the vehicle crossed over into the northbound lane of Chapmans Road, struck another car, and drove away.

The driver of the car that was struck tried to follow the SUV, but lost sight of it in the vicinity of Tilghman Street and Route 22, police said.

Police said a red car, possibly a Ford Focus, also joined in the chase, but lost sight of the offending driver. Police have not heard from this potential witness.

Police said the SUV, possibly a Yukon or a Tahoe, should have some rear driver's side corner damage.
