Police Chief: Fatal Accident Victim Was on Motorcycle He May Not Have Owned

Upper Macungie Police Chief Edgardo Colon said a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred in the parking lot of a Windsor Drive business remains under investigation.

Upper Macungie Police Chief Edgardo Colon said the victim of a fatal motorcycle accident on Aug. 28 may have been sitting on a bike that didn't belong to him.

Matthew Risell, 31, of Reading was killed when the motorcycle he was aboard hit a brick wall at Infinera Corp. at 7360 Windsor Drive in Upper Macungie.

Colon, in his monthly report to Upper Macungie Supervisors, said Thursday night that the incident is still under investigation. 

In other police news, Colon said August was a busy month in the township with 21 non-DUI arrests recorded during the period spanning July 24 through Aug. 31.

A total of 12 DUI arrests were made. Police also handed out 757 traffic citations.

"It was a busy month," Colon said. "We had a fair amount of criminal incidents, including theft, assaults, criminal mischief and a melee at the Fogelsville Hotel."

The Aug. 4 bar brawl at Hops Fogelsville Hotel knocked an employee from Breinigsville unconscious.
