Parkland Grad Guarding Washington Navy Yard

A Lehigh County man who is a U.S. Marine is stationed at Washington Navy Yard, where 12 people were shot to death Monday.

A man with Lehigh Valley roots is helping guard the Washington Navy Yard in the wake of Monday's shooting rampage.

Lance Corporal Christopher Kuhns, a U.S. Marine, is a guard at the Navy Yard and has family in Schnecksville, according to a WFMZ report. He graduated from Parkland High School.

Kuhns was not injured in the mass shooting that killed 12 people.

Shooting suspect Aaron Alexis was a Navy veteran who was arrested but not convicted on a previous weapons charge. 

A survivor likened the rampage to 9/11 in an interview with Patch.
