OMG PD: $1.29 Lemonade Theft Leads to Felony Charge

Bethlehem man accused of stealing $1.29 soft drink at a 7-Eleven, but because of prior retail theft convictions, the charge is considered a felony, according to court papers.

 

A Bethlehem man is facing a felony charge for allegedly stealing a bottle of lemonade valued at less than $2.

That's because Frank Rodriguez, 54, has past retail theft convictions, Bethlehem police said in court papers.

Rodriguez, of the 1700 block of Markham Drive, was charged Sunday with retail theft after a clerk at the 7-Eleven at 101 E. Broad St. told police she saw him stick a $1.29 bottle of Turkey Hill lemonade into his pocket and walk out of the store.

Rodriguez is charged with retail theft and was arraigned before District Judge Richard Yetter in Wilson, who set bail at $5,000.
