No Major Injuries in Route 222 Crash, Police Say

Upper Macungie Police said two children, ages 8 and 5, were taken to the hospital for evaluations following a two-car accident Friday afternoon.

Two children, ages 8 and 5, were taken to the hospital for evaluations following a two-car accident Friday afternoon at the intersection of the Route 222 bypass and Grim Road, according to Upper Macungie Police.

Police said the accident happened at 4:45 p.m. Friday when a car driven by Michael Simmon, 36, of Macungie was traveling northbound on the bypass and turned in front of a car driven by Eleoenai Ortiz Perez, 29, of Baltimore.

Police said Simmon's children were passengers in the car and that the five-year-old was not in a child safety seat.

Police said no major injuries were apparent, but that both children were taken to the hospital.
