New Police Station Nearly Complete

Berks-Lehigh station expected to open in late April or early May

were informed Thursday night that the new station at 37 Grim Road should be completed soon and open by the end of April or early May.

Director of Community Development Ken Molony told supervisors that much of the construction was moving along at a fairly rapid pace and, aside from some weather problems, should be completed on time.

The Berks-Lehigh Police Regional Department has been headquartered out of Maxatawny Township during the construction period.

so they are building a police station for a police department they are giving rid of and forced Chief Weisser to quit from? Nice work

Are you kidding me? Forced to quit? He submitted a letter of resignation to the police commission. In that letter he stated that he was going to take early retirement to peruse a better opportunity, UNLESS, the board re-negotiated his contract, which was not up until June of this year. That is FAR from quitting. That is attempting to utilize differential leverage to increase your salary. He has every right to try, however, it was decided not to re-negotiate his contract. Please explain how the board FORCED him to quit? This letter is available for your review at the Upper Macungie office. Check it out and let me know if you really think they made him quit. As for the police station, if we break away, I would assume we would have our own police. They need a station, No?
