Naked Man Waives Preliminary Hearing

Erik Jenkinson of Concord, Mass. will be arraigned in Lehigh County Court on April 23.

A man who ran naked down Interstate 78 in Upper Macungie Township following a November traffic accident waived his preliminary hearing Wednesday in front of District Judge Michael Faulkner.

Instead, Erik Jenkinson will face arraignment April 23 in Lehigh County Court.

Jenkinson, 27, of Concord, Mass. stripped naked after the Nov. 26 accident, which occurred at 4:05 p.m., according to the state police complaint. Jenkinson was charged with eight offenses, including driving under the influence and open lewdness.

Jenkinson and his attorney, Dennis Charles, declined comment following the hearing.

The lone matter changed during the hearing was the DUI charge now pertains to a controlled substance and not to alcohol.
