Man Tries to Lure 9-Year-Old Boy with Ice Cream, Police Say

Troopers seek the man's capture, ask other departments if they have had similar incidents, according to scanner transmissions.

A man attempted to lure a 9-year-old boy into his vehicle Thursday in Lower Macungie Township with the promise of ice cream, according to police.

The attempt occurred about 7 p.m. at 4647 Berwyn Lane, according to an Attempt to Locate bulletin announced to Lehigh County police departments about 9 p.m.

State police at Fogelsville released the bulletin.

According to a state police release, a man in a black sedan, perhaps with tinted windows,  approached the boy.  "I just came from Giant, and I want you to try some of my ice cream," police quote the man as saying.

The boy ran away and the man drove off in an unknown direction, according to the release.  The boy apparently notified adults who called police.
