Man Chooses I-78 Onramp to Urinate

Troopers say man found urinating near I-78 is suspected of driving drunk.

If you must drink and drive, we offer a little friendly advice: Publicly urinating near a major highway might not be the best way to hide intoxication from police.

Take the case of Jose Martin Avila-Garcia, for example. arrested him for suspected drunken driving on June 3 after they said they found him urinating along the Interstate 78 onramp from Route 222 northbound. Avila-Garcia, 24, of Allentown, was cited for disorderly conduct for public urination.

As for the charges of suspected drunken driving, those charges are pending before Magisterial District Judge Michael Faulkner, awaiting blood-alcohol test results.

Besides the advice of not urinating near a busy highway, another potential tip-off to late-night drinking could be the time of occurrence. In this instance, police logged the time of 3:12 a.m., a bit more than an hour after public bars must legally close.

The above arrest information was supplied by Pennsylvania State Police at Fogelsville. It does not indicate a conviction.
