Woman Held Captive in Bedroom, Police Say

Upper Macungie Police said an Allentown man entered a Breinigsville home early Monday and kept a woman trapped in her bedroom.

An Allentown man was charged with harassment and false imprisonment after he allegedly entered a Breinigsville home early Monday and kept a woman from leaving her bedroom.

Police said 34-year-old Theodore Dowie, of 609 Chew Street in Allentown, will face charges for both crimes before District Judge Michael Faulkner after turning himself in Tuesday.

According to the arrest affidavit:

  • The woman said she found Dowie standing in her bathroom at 1 a.m. Monday. She stated that when she began to scream, Dowie put his hand over her mouth and told her to "shut up." As a result, the woman sustained a cut on her upper lip.
  • Dowie told the woman that he came into the house to delete all phone messages so they could not be used against him.
  • The woman said that she attempted to call 911, but the phone lines were dead as a result of Dowie cutting them.
  • The woman said Dowie kept her in the bedroom until 8 a.m. Monday, telling her they needed to get back together, before leaving the house.
