Luzerne Woman Badly Hurt in Route 100 Crash

Police say she was partially ejected after car flipped onto its roof in Lowhill Township.

A Luzerne County woman suffered major injuries early Thursday when she was partially ejected from her car after it went off Route 100 in Lowhill Township, up an embankment and rolled over onto its roof, police said.

Angelica I. Matthews, 21, of Hunlock Creek was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest following the 3:14am crash on Route 100 at Country Springs Road, a state police fax said.

Matthews' 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was northbound on Route 100 when it went off the right side of the roadway, up the embankment and rolled over onto its roof. Matthews was partially ejected from the passenger side window, the fax said.

She was taken to the hospital by Northwestern ambulance. She was cited for violating the traffic law governing laned roadways, the fax said.
