Icy Roads Cause Two Upper Macungie Crashes

Allentown man hospitalized after his car slides on the ice on Cetronia Road.

Upper Macungie police say an Allentown man was hospitalized in one of two crashes caused by icy roads Wednesday morning in the township.

According to police, Matthew Elison, 28, was heading south on Cetronia Road when he began to slide while rounding a curve. His SUV went into the front yard of a nearby residence, hit a boulder and flipped over onto its driver's side.

Elison was taken by Cetronia Ambulance to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Police say he will be cited for speeding. His SUV sustained heavy damage and was towed by Faust Towing.

The second crash involved a 27-year-old Alburtis woman who was transporting three children along Hamilton Boulevard.

Police say Kristal Duboise slid on the ice while turning from Hamilton onto Tek Road and struck a pole. Neither she nor her passengers—two 7-year-old boys and a baby girl—were hurt, but her car was towed by Getz Towing.
