Drug Take-Back Day is April 27

The Upper Macungie Police Department will be accepting expired drugs on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Upper Macungie Police Department will participate in the sixth National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the department's 37 Grim Road headquarters.

Police will be accepting expired prescription drugs from Upper Macungie residents during that time.

The Drug Enforcement Admistration's National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.

Last year, Upper Macungie Township collected 112 pounds of unwanted unused and expired medications during the fourth National Take-Back Day.

In total, 17 sites in Lehigh County collected 52 boxes of medications, or 828 pounds of drugs. That brings the total collected in Lehigh County during the last four events is more than one ton—2,274 pounds.
