Man Stole Diamond Ring, Police Say

Upper Macungie Police say Robert D. Solove stole a diamond ring worth $525 from a Fogelsville woman and sold it to a local jeweler.

A 20-year-old man is in Lehigh County Prison after allegedly stealing and selling a platinum ring with a 1/4-carat diamond setting, according to Upper Macungie Police.

Police, in an arrest affidavit, said Robert D. Solove, address unknown, was living with a Fogelsville woman from late 2011 through mid-2012.

The arrest affidavit states:

  • The Fogelsville woman reported a diamond ring worth $525 stolen between Dec. 7, 2011 and Jan. 10, 2012.
  • The woman determined the ring was sold to Robert's Jewelers in Fogelsville by Solove on Dec. 18, 2011 for $100. The woman received a copy of the transaction papers on May 8, 2013.
  • The woman recovered the diamond from the jeweler, but the platinum from the ring was already melted and sold.
Police said Solove was charged with one count of unlawful taking and one count of receiving stolen property.

Solove was arraigned Thursday by District Judge Michael Faulkner and remanded to Lehigh County Prison under $7,500 bail.
