Community Police Academy Will Give Adults Behind-the-Scenes Peek

The Upper Macungie Community Police Academy, starting Oct. 1, will give 30 participants a behind-the-scenes look at police work through the eyes of officers.

The Upper Macungie Township Police Department has announced it is  accepting applications for its first annual Community Police Academy.

Applicants must be 18 and older. Classes will be held Tuesdays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning Oct. 1 through Nov. 12.

This exciting opportunity will give adult participants to get a behind-the-scenes look at police work through the eyes of officers who perform their duties on a daily basis.

Students will get extensive teaching regarding SWAT, K-9, drug investigations, criminal investigations, and more.

The majority of the courses will be held at Upper Macungie Police headquarters at 37 Grim Road, Breinigsville. There will be one Saturday class with a date to be announced.

All applications must be returned by Sept. 29.

The academy class will be limited to 30 students. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Upper Macungie residents will have first priority seating, although the class is open to all Pennsylvania residents.
