Chief Colon: Police Officers Are Involved at Schools

Upper Macungie Police Chief Edgardo Colon said the department wants to let parents, teachers and children know that the department is committed to protecting schools.

Upper Macungie Police Chief Edgardo Colon recently told township supervisors that police officers are involved at schools throughout the Parkland School District.

"Our police officers are in the schools. We have a good relationship with [Parkland Superintendent of Schools] Richard Sniscak," Colon said. "We have a large [Upper Macungie] police patch on the window of each school. We want parents, teachers and children to know about the commitment the department has to protecting these precious assets."

Colon said the Operation Safe Stop program is in place and off to a good start.

Colon also noted that Upper Macungie Officer Pamela Mathias has graduated from D.A.R.E school and will continue to move forward with her community policing efforts.
