About 160 Lose Power after Upper Macungie Transformer Fire

PPL restored power after about two hours.

A Wednesday night transformer fire knocked out power to more than 160 Upper Macungie homes last night at approximately 8:45 p.m., according to The Morning Call.

Fire Commissioner Grant Grim said he had no cause for the fire at this time.

"It was pretty cut and dry. The trucks got there and called PPL," Grim said.

The Morning Call report said the transformer caught fire on Adams Road, north of Haaf Road, with a power line dropping into a field.

The report said power to all customers was restored by 11 p.m.
