3 People Burglarize Grange Road Home, Police Say

Police say scrap metal thieves were caught leaving scene of Upper Macungie burglary.

Upper Macungie police say three people broke into an unoccupied home Wednesday afternoon looking to steal scrap metal.

Police say they were called to the home in the 600 block of Grange Road around 12:37 p.m. for a burglary in progress.

By the time they got there, the burglars had fled, but officers caught up with them and stopped their car on Hamilton Boulevard near Treeline Drive, police said.

Police say the burglars had been after scrap metal, and had wires, golf clubs, audio records and a copper pot in their car.

The trio was identified as Brandon Snyder, 24, of Kutztown and Heith and Melinda Engleman, both 46 and from Allentown.

They were charged with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary and receiving stolen property, police said.

All three were sent to Lehigh County Prison after being unable to post $50,000 bail.
