What Goes Here? The Former Easy Street Eats

In our new occasional feature, we ask readers for their opinion on what stores, restaurants or businesses they would like to see in vacant locations in Upper Macungie.

 

We want to know what businesses you want to see in Upper Macungie Township.

The empty space seen here used to house Easy Street Eats, which closed in 2011. 

The vacant, 3,312-square-foot property is in the strip center at 5924 Tilghman St. that also houses Philly Pretzel Factory.

A person who answered the phone at Hawley Realty Inc., which is handling the property, said the empty space is "ready for anything."

I had to look Wingzone up. I hadn't heard about them. Are there any in Pennsylvania?

Is the space big enough for a Cheesecake Factory or PF Changs? We have neither in the Valley.

I haven't been to Cheesecake Factory or PF Changs so I don't know how big they usually are. This space is 3,312 square feet. Anyone know? Big enuf?

Leave the entire mall vacant and focus on blowing up the mess down the street of the former porn shop and disgusting motel, that entire area of the township is an eyesore and an embarrasing to us all. Why this place continues to exsist in a family centric community amazes me. Instead of spending money on a community center, how about the Upper Macungie supervisor board buys the owner of that mess out and raze the place? I bet the taxpayers will not mind one bit. The police/fire departments will also have less work to do and save tax dollars on calls and associated resources! UMT citizens unite!!!!

Dear Parkland Parent, I agree that that area is a complete eyesore and that the vacant porn shop can GO! I often wonder what my visiting guests must think when they are coming off the turnpike and pulling onto Blue Barn. As much as I do not like the appearance of the motel, many families with children reside there. These are poor families, who need a place to live with children who deserve a good school district like Parkland. If the township were to purchase and level the motel, then they should help those families find affordable housing in their budget in the same school district.

I do not believe they would need the whole space, but how about a Pa. Photo Licensing Center. Right now we have to use the one off of Airport Road or the American Parkway. To get to either is a congested mess for us to the west

How about bring Burrito Grille back and try it out there! I do feel that the access to the location makes it a hard sell and is likely the reason the restaurants can't make it there. How are the other businesses doing? Anybody know?

How about a book store/coffee shop with WiFi access where people can go to read and drink specialty coffees. We do not have any bookstores close to us and this would be a GREAT addition to our side of town!

I agree with Stephanie, this mall has horrible access. I can't count the number of times I've been behind someone traveling west on Tilghman that doesn't realize until it's too late that they've passed the entrance.

Agreed! It scary to cross the road there! And you get a bad impression needing to drive around the back to enter the parking areas in front.

Agreed! I am embarrassed when people ask me how to get from green hills to Tilghman and need to route them through the motel hell hole. The property itself has got to be worth a fortune due to the huge volume of traffic for a business, this must be attractive ....minus the bookstore and MO.......TEL !!!
