Lehigh Motor Inn Motel

When is this place going to be closed and torn down? It is nothing but trouble and an eye sore for years!

remember the little motel that was were the best western is now? they tore that down built a new hotel and killed a guy with carbon monoxide poisoning, sometimes newer isnt better

The owner of LMI is also part owner of Best Western. The carbon monoxide death was unfortunately an accident. The murders, stabbings, prostitution and drug dealings are no accidents. They are intentional acts. I cannot understand why nothing is done by the township. If it is a "motor inn" then why do people LIVE there permanently. That's another question I have for the township.

I absolutely agree, Pam. What can be done to get this place shut down?! It is a disgrace to the township and the tax payers of the area. The place could look any more sickening, along with the people that come in and out of the place.

And to you, "voice of reason", your "sometimes newer isn't better" comment is irrelevant. Promoting a business that puts the area to shame is what IS relevant.

The township has cited the owner in the past for violations which he appealed to Lehigh County court. That was a while ago and I haven't heard if the case has been heard yet. Might be time to ask about this at the township meeting this Thursday.

Joe- I see you are a volunteer fire fighter and have lived in the township. Has this property been brought up at any township meetings? Who is responsible for making sure these businesses are up to code? The property value of all the homes near this place would increase if it was done away with.
Joe Corcoran February 03, 2014 at 11:32 AM
It's been discussed many times at township meetings and all agree that it's an eyesore. The problem is trying to deal with an owner that really doesn't care as long as it makes him money.
Pam February 03, 2014 at 11:32 AM
That place has got to have fire safety violations and I don't need to be a fire chief to figure that out! This past fall they dug huge holes in the parking lot and covered them up with ply wood. Real safe! The live-in residence also tie their dogs up on short leashes to posts over the summer. Someone should tie the owner up to a short leash in the hot sun. The place is a friggin mess!

Exactly. When was the Health Dept. last in there to check codes? It should be condemned. Isn't there someone on Council that is responsible for having businesses up to code. I've seen people complain about bed bugs online. I'm determined to get this placed shut down. Everyone who is a tax paying property owner living anywhere near this place is disgusted.

I live close by and have to lock my doors because of the freaks walking up and down Memorial Rd. from that place. I'm sure my property value will go up when that place is leveled. My husband has been going to township meetings and nothing is ever done. The township needs to do what it takes and follow up on these places that need demolished.

When was there a murder at this place?
Pam February 05, 2014 at 08:03 AM
I know of an attempted murder in June 2004 when a woman had her throat slashed and was found outside the room.
