Joseph J. Salvadge, Jr., 60, of Allentown, passed away Jan. 7 at home with his wife and his friend, Jeff Burnatowski, at his side. He was the husband of Susan L. (Cooper) Grim-Salvadge, to whom he would have been married 15 years on Feb. 14. His first wife was the late Phyllis M. (Ziegler) Salvadge.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of Joseph J., Sr. and Agnes Marie (Smith) Salvadge of Allentown. He was a mechanical technician at Air Products and Chemicals for the past 20 years. He previously worked at Bethlehem Steel for 18 years.
He proudly served his country as a Marine in Vietnam and his community in the Good Will Fire Company #1 of Trexlertown. He also was a CERT team volunteer in Upper Macungie.
Surviving with his wife and parents; son Brian J.; daughter Bonnie R.; step-daughters Amy and Donna; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Schmoyer Funeral Home, 8926 Brookdale Road, Breinigsville. Calling hours are 6:00-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday. Interment with military honors will take place in Ziegels Union Church Cemetery.
Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital and/or Alex’s Lemonade Stand, care of the funeral home.
