Edith Beavers: Hardworking and Devoted Mom [Obituary]

Edith Lorraine Sluss Beavers departed this life for a better place on November 29, 2013.

Edith Lorraine Sluss Beavers departed this life for a better place on November 29, 2013, anxiously looking forward to having a reunion with her most beloved parents, daughter and family members that have passed before her. Edith was the beloved eldest daughter of the late Frank N. and AraBelle (Walk) Sluss, born in 1923 in the quaint small coal town of Jenkinjones, West Virginia, which was so dear to her heart, most especially in the later years as those memories were in the forefront of her mind.

Ms. Beavers was a member of the Ziegels Lutheran Congregation in Breinigsville, PA; however, her most valued and precious church memories were of Mom, Dad and all nine children filing into Jenkinjones United Methodist Church. She was a very hardworking and an incredibly devoted mother whose entire life and love was totally dedicated to raising her two daughters to be the very best they could be and she was so incredibly proud of that accomplishment. That incredible love and devotion also included her dedication to her three grandchildren, her beloved mother, father, sisters, brothers, and nieces and nephews. She also had many very special lifelong friendships that were so very important to her as well.

Survivors: daughter, Mary J. and husband Joseph Perun of New Tripoli, sisters; Janice M. Mahaffey, Naomi M. Murry, Drs. Grace A. and husband R.D. “Buddy” McGee, brother, Randolph R. and wife Betty, grandchildren; Bryan J. Perun, Robert S. Perun, and Christina J. wife of Chris Schucker, many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jackie Gale.

Services: Memorial Service 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, December 7, at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Rd., Breinigsville, with the Rev. Bruce D. MacLaughlin officiating.
