Dean Frantz, Retired PPL Employee, Member Ziegels UCC [Obituary]

Dean H. Frantz, husband of Marlene B.M. (Steigerwalt) Frantz, departed this earth on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg.

He is survived by the love of his life Marlene, a great son Matthew and his wife Deborah, four beautiful granddaughters; Shannon, Myrena, Dakota, and Makela, whom he loved dearly; a brother, Dr. Jerry Frantz and wife Alice, a sister Judy Muffley and husband Carl.  

Born in West Bowmans, he was a son of the late Harvin O. and Naomi S. (Bowman) Frantz.  He was preceded in death by a premature unnamed sister.  He has a daughter (not seen since 1991).  He loved to hunt, fish, and go camping with his family.

Dean was a 1956 graduate of Lehighton High School.  He served in Company B 165th Military Police Pennsylvania National Guard Battalion when they were activated to Fork Polk, Louisiana, for the Berlin Crisis.  He worked for P.P.&L. Co. in various positions for over 30 years, retiring in 1995 and was a member of Kilowatt Craftsman’s Club.  

Dean was a member of Ziegels United Church of Christ, Breinigsville, where he was a past Consistory Member, Elder, and Deacon for many years.  He was a member of Lehigh Lodge #326 F. & A.M., since 1978 and also a member of East Penn Chapter #336 Eastern Star.  Dean was a Benefactor Life Member of NRA, a life member of the Ontelaunee Rod & Gun Club, the Point Phillips Rod & Gun Club, and Ray A. Masters American Legion Post #217, Topton.

Services: 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, November 23, at Ziegels Union Church, 9990 Ziegels Church Road, Breinigsville with the Rev. Candi Cain-Borgman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:15 A.M. at the Church. Masonic Services will be at 11:15 A.M.  Private Interment.  Arrangements by Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., Fogelsville.
