Where's Your Christmas Spirit? Because This Group Needs It

Spirit of the Lehigh Valley needs volunteers for its Christmas Eve banquet.

Every Christmas Eve since 1992, the Spirit of the Lehigh Valley has served a holiday banquet for some of the region's neediest residents.

The tradition has grown to the point that a few thousand people are expected to show up next week. And that means the organization needs a few hundred people to help with the dinner.

"About 4,500 people are expected to come enjoy a holiday banquet on Christmas Eve, which will include: live entertainment, Elves passing out toys and Santa Claus visiting and talking with the kids," Nestle Waters, the event's sponsor, said in a news release.

They still need 200 volunteers to serve food, clean up and pass out gifts to the families who attend.

Volunteers work in two-hour intervals from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Another group of volunteers will wrap presents and bake cookies Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Conference Center in Breinigsville.

If you're interested in volunteering for Christmas Eve, contact volunteer coordinator Ed Yakimowicz at 610-530-4629.
