Columbus Day: What's Open and Closed

Find out what's open and closed in the Upper Macungie area on Monday's state and federal holiday.

Monday, Oct. 14 is the observance of Columbus Day. It is a federal and state holiday. In observance of the holiday, here is a listing of what is open and what is closed Monday.

  • Upper Macungie Township municipal offices are open. (Regular trash schedule.)
  • Schools: Parkland School District schools and St. Joseph the Worker School (Orefield) are closed. 
  • Banks: Many, but not all, are closed.
  • Lehigh County Courthouse is open. 
  • Lehigh County Government offices are open.
  • The office of Magisterial District Judge Michael Faulkner in Upper Macungie is open.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Transportationd river's license and photo centers are closed. (Online services are available. www.dmv.state.pa.us)
  • Pennsylvania Liquor stores are open.
  • Federal offices are closed. 
  • State offices are closed
  • U.S. Post offices are closed, and there will be no regular U.S. Mail pick up or delivery. 
  • Retail: Most retail and entertainment establishments are open.
