Lower Macungie Exhibit - Historic Hotels

New Exhibit at Lower Macungie Library Features Historic Hotels
An exhibit of photographs and memorabilia highlighting the history of hotels and taverns in Lower Macungie Township and Alburtis is on display at Lower Macungie Library.  The photos, many of which are "then" and "now" shots, show what the building looked like decades ago, and what the site looks like today.  By viewing the photos one notices the remarkable changes that have occurred over the years.  Some interior views hint at the transformation in culture and community since taverns are no longer the social hubs they once were.
Along with the photos are examples of items that might have been seen at the local taverns:  steins, serving and tip trays, and bottles manufactured with local brewery names like Horlacher's and Neuweiler's.
The photos were supplied by the Lower Macungie Township Historical Society and the memorabilia are on loan from William and Donna Findlay.  The exhibit can be viewed during normal library hours:   Mon. 10-9, Tues –Thurs. 10-8, and Fri.-Sat. 9-5.
