Local Artist Spotlight, "Nancy Shelly: Paper Cutting"
The Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts will be featuring the artwork of local resident, Nancy Shelly. Shelly began making paper cuttings to entertain her three children, and her fascination with the craft grew into a passion for creating unique designs. Simplistic in the materials which include only paper and watercolor, the pieces become extraordinarily detailed and complex at the hands of Shelly and her x-acto knife. Her work has been pictured in magazines, has won awards, and has been selected for exhibitions at the White House, at the State Museum of Pennsylvania, at the galleries of the Inter-Church Center, Manhattan, at Boston Symphony Hall, and at numerous regional museums.
