Autopsy on Upper Mac Fire Fatality Slated Monday

Lehigh County Coroner says gender of victim remains unknown

Lehigh County Chief Deputy Coroner Paul Zondlo said the identity and gender of the victim in a fatal Upper Macungie Township fire is still unknown.

Zondlo said an autopsy is slated for tomorrow.

A release from Berks-Lehigh Regional Police stated the victim of an early Saturday morning structure fire at 6411 Haasadahl Road was female.

"A female was supposed to be living at that address, but we don't have that identification," Zondlo said late Saturday night. "We're just not sure and we're going to need dental records."

Property assessment records on the Lehigh County website lists the property owner as Joan L. Fister.

Zondlo said without dental records, the identification process could take time.

Fire crews and apparatus were at the scene after  5 p.m. Saturday overseeing demolition of the fire-damaged structure. A second structure on the property appeared undamaged.

Berks-Lehigh Police said the fire was reported at 3:39 a.m. by a passerby. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
