PennDOT Work On Route 222 Starts Tonight

The project calls for roadway patching, resurfacing, new reflective pavement markers and line paint and new curb ramps.

PennDOT said a project slated to improve Route 222 between Route 100 (Fred Jaindl Memorial Highway) and the Berks County line in Upper Macungie Township will commence today.

PennDOT said the project calls for roadway patching, resurfacing, new reflective pavement markers and line paint and new curb ramps.

Beginning this evening, there will be night lane restrictions from 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.

PennDOT said one lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained with the center turn lane being restricted on most evenings. However, motorists should be alert for possible short-term traffic slow-downs or stoppages to allow equipment to maneuver within the work area.

PennDOT said Eastern Industries, Inc. of Winfield, Pa. is the general contractor on the $1,027,972 project to improve this highway.
