PennDOT Night Work On I-78 West Will Slow Traffic

Motorists should also take note of curb work this week in Macungie Borough.

Night owls traveling Interstate 78 westbound between exit 55 (Cedar Crest Blvd.)  through Upper Macungie Township to the Berks County line will encounter traffic delays this week.

PennDOT maintenance crews will perform sweeping work throughout that stretch of westbound I-78 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. through Thursday night, according a release. Motorists should utilize caution and expect travel delays.

-- Motorists traveling in Macungie Borough will experience delays this week on South Chestnut Street between Green and Sycamore streets, due to curb ramp work by a contractor, PennDOT said. The work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with sporadic lane restrictions. PennDOT said the work is part of ann ongoing project to replace 180 curbs in Lehigh County in order to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

-- Motorists traveling on Game Preserve and Kistler roads in Lowhill Township will encounter lane restrictions Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., as PennDOT maintenance crews perform drainage work.
