Bells Will Be Ringing: Allentown’s Turing 250!

This drive-through light display covers more than a mile of one of Allentown's most beautiful parks (Lehigh Parkway) and features lighted trees, light tunnels and animated displays. "Lights" has become an annual tradition for many families throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond (many people visit from out of state to experience this unique display). While building on the success of past years, this season promises to shine even brighter than before.

Allentown’s 17th annual Lights in the Parkway celebration will be brighter than ever before. Hundreds of city-owned pieces will be on display illuminating the Parkway with hundreds of thousands of lights. Not only are holiday scenes featured, but the popular Wizard of Oz,  Cinderella and other collections will all be part of this season of Lights. While commemorating our past, the City is continuing to think of our future. This year, we will further the effort to green the display and shine even brighter, as we upgraded even more of our displays. Tree lights will all be LED and while journeying through Lights, visitors will notice several major pieces that now glow with LED.

After your tour through the spectacular display, be sure to visit the Lights In The Parkway Gift Barn. As you exit the display, follow the signs to the Lights In The Parkway Gift Barn.

Since the admission price for Lights in the Parkway is per vehicle rather than per person, it is one of the most economical types of holiday entertainment-- an entire family can enjoy the display for as little as six dollars (with the purchase of an advance sale ticket). See below for additional ticket and discount information. Part of the proceeds benefit Allentown community groups whose members volunteer to staff the display. Recipients include the Cub Scouts, school groups, the Allentown Fire Police and community groups.

It takes approximately 25 minutes to tour the display, not including the time you may wish to spend at the Gift Barn. Don't forget to bring your camera. (For tips on holiday light photography, click here.)

Horse Drawn Carriage Rides

Because horse-drawn carriage rides were so popular and well received, they will again be (for their third season) offered by reservation only. The price will again be $10 per person. Pricing varies for a private carriage. For more information and make reservations, please call 610-799-0591 or visit www.irontonlivery.com

Bike through the Lights

We try to keep Lights new and exciting and continue to offer new ways for patrons to enjoy the thousands of twinkling lights. For the second year, bicyclists age 18 and over are permitted to ride through the Lights in the Parkway display. The members of BikeAllentown want to remind cyclists that PA Law mandates the use of front (white) and rear (red) lights when operating your bicycle at night. Although helmets are only required for people 12 and under - we recommend anyone choosing to ride their bicycle through Lights in the Parkway wear a helmet.
