Upper Macungie 'Fortunate' in Wake Of Storm

Fire commissioner Grant Grim says minor power outages remain throughout Upper Macungie Township.

Upper Macungie Fire Commissioner Grant Grim called the township fortunate in the wake of the rare October snowstorm that pummeled the Lehigh Valley Saturday and left thousands without power.

"We don't have any real issues except with people who still have their power out," Grim said. "The trees that are down, that aren't entagled in power lines, we've mostly taken care of. We're taking care of those issues. For the most part, the roads are clear. We weren't as hard hit as South Whitehall, for example."

According to PPL, as of 8:30 a.m., more than 1,500 customers remain without power. More than 1,400 have been restored since the start of the storm.
