After months of a steady decline, gas prices saw its first uptick last week, according to AAA’s Fuel Gauge Report.
The national average for a gallon of gas rose 1.7 cents from last week.
In Pennsylvania, today’s average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.449 per gallon, down 1.4 cents from a week ago, down 17 cents from a month ago and 34.4 cents lower than a year ago.

In the Lehigh Valley, the average price of self-serve gasoline is $3.412 per gallon, 1.3 cents lower than a week ago, 17.5 cents lower than a month ago and 36.9 cents lower than a year ago.
Since national gas prices peaked at the end of February, motorists nationwide have felt welcome relief at the pump in the form of falling prices, the report states; however, the recent broader increase in retail gas prices has been supported by higher global crude oil prices.

Plus, news over the weekend of an Israeli airstrike in Syria raised fresh concerns of a possible disruption to oil supplies in the Middle East and added to the upward pressure on prices.
Nearby, the cheapest price for regular is $3.37 per gallon at the Giant gas station in Trexlertown.
