Flood Watch: 1-3 Inches of Rain Likely Thursday

Brace yourself for another very soggy day as a strong low-pressure system brings heavy rain to Upper Macungie Township Thursday into Thursday night.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch from 10 a.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday for Lehigh County as a strong low-pressure system brings us another day of heavy rain.

Expect 1 to 3 inches of rain Thursday into Thursday night from showers and thunderstorms. The high will be near 74.

The Weather Service says it won't take much rain to produce flooding since creeks and streams are already high from rain we had Monday and last Friday.

Upper Macungie Township Emergency Management Coordinator Grant Grim said township officials are monitoring the situation.

"If it's only 1-to-3 inches, we should be in pretty good shape. We'll see what comes in tonight," Grim said. "We were pretty fortunate if you look at the way the rain came down the other day. We'll be monitoring it."
