Excessive Heat Expected for First Day of Summer

The National Weather Service expects temperature to hit near 103 on Wednesday, the first day of summer.

A major warm-up is expected just in time for the start of summer as temperatures will climb from the upper 90s Wednesday and Thursday to near 103, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecast for Wednesday - the first official day of summer - is sunny with a possible heat index - that's heat plus humidity - of 103.

Thursday is also expected to be sunny and hot with a high near 97.
