Amazon Could be Liable for Back Pay

A federal lawsuit seeking back pay for Amazon employees who had to wait in line to pass through security has been reaffirmed, according to a published report.

Amazon.com and its temporary staffing firm Integrity Staffing Solutions might be on the hook for retroactive pay following the affirmation of a 2010 federal lawsuit, according to a report from The Morning Call.

The suit, filed in Nevada in 2010, seeks back pay for employees who must stand in line for security checks at the end of their shifts after clocking out, according to the report.

Thefts by employees are a common occurrence at Amazon's Breinigsville fulfillment center at 705 Boulder Drive.

High numbers of criminal incidents at the fulfillment center were reported during the 2010 holiday season. At that time, police officials said they expected crime at the Amazon.com fulfillment center to wane.

In 2011, Upper Macungie Supervisors became concerned about the amount of police activity and traffic problems at the facility. The company later agreed to pay for an around-the-clock police presence in front of the facility.
