5 Things To Know In Upper Macungie This Week

It's National Library Week. Open volleyball games continue. Three extra days are available to file your taxes and, if you hurry, you can beat a postal increase.

1. National Library Week is being celebrated from April 10 through 16 and Parkland Community Library, located at 4422 Walbert Ave. in Allentown, is hosting several related events throughout the period.

2. Open indoor volleyball continues every Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. at Jaindl Elementary School, located at 1051 Weilers Blvd., in Breinigsville for the remainder of the school year. Pickup style games are held and players of all ages and skill levels are welcome.

3. The Upper Macungie Zoning Hearing Board is scheduled to meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the municipal meeting room, located at 8330 Schantz Road in Breiningsville. The meeting's agenda will be posted on the Minute Pal portion of the township's website later this week.

4. Friday is April 15, the traditional due date to file income taxes to the Internal Revenue Service. However, due to a holiday celebrated in Washington, D.C., this year's deadline is Monday, April 18. Take advatage of that extra time.

5. The price of postage, just like gasoline, is heading higher. First-class mail won't be affected. But, in order to beat the increase, be sure to get any outstanding mail items and packages to the post office by Saturday.
